Dysport
What is Dysport?
Dysport is an injectable neurotoxin that can smooth lines and wrinkles caused by facial expressions and aging. Similar to Botox, Dysport works by relaxing the facial muscles, preventing movement and smoothing furrows and creases that form when you make natural facial expressions. Dysport can achieve a more rejuvenated, refreshed look by reducing the appearance of aging signs like crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead lines. Dysport can easily be combined with other facial rejuvenation options like fillers to further reduce aging signs and improve your overall aesthetic.
Who is a Candidate for Dysport?
Dysport can be an ideal aesthetic treatment for patients who want to reverse signs of aging without surgery or downtime. If you’re beginning to see aging signs, Dysport can prevent them from deepening and help you look as young as you feel. Good candidates for Dysport are patients who are in overall good health and do not have certain bleeding disorders. During a consultation with our licensed clinician at VitaLab Wellness, we will determine if Dysport is the ideal option for your cosmetic goals.
The Treatment
Your treatment session will begin by discussing your aesthetic goals and expectations with our team. Our licensed clinician will help you develop an appropriate anti-aging treatment plan using our best products and technologies. Your skin will be cleansed and prepared, and the product will be placed in the appropriate facial muscles using a very fine needle. If you’re concerned about discomfort, we can supply a topical numbing cream. Your treatment can take as little as 15 minutes and you can immediately return to your normal schedule afterward.
Recovery
After your treatment, we recommend following some basic aftercare steps for best results. Make sure to avoid alcohol and strenuous activities for the first 24 hours. For the first 4 hours, avoid bending over or laying down. Hot environments like saunas or hot tubs should be avoided since this can increase swelling.
You may have some minor redness and swelling at the injection sites, but it’s typically temporary and subsides quickly. To prevent bruising, it’s best to avoid NSAIDs like ibuprofen and blood-thinning medications for two weeks before and after your treatment session. You may apply makeup and skincare products to your face afterward but be gentle and avoid rubbing or massaging the treatment area.
You may begin to see improvement within a few days, but Dysport typically produces final results within 1-2 weeks of treatment. After two weeks, you may return for additional units as needed. Dysport lasts for 3-6 months, and our team will help you understand when to return for your next touch-up appointment.
