WHAT ARE BOTOX®AND DERMAL FILLERS?

THE TREATMENT
To begin your treatment of Botox and dermal filler La Jolla patients will first discuss with our licensed clinician what they are hoping to accomplish and what they can expect. Then, they will cleanse your skin and mark where injections will be placed. A topical numbing cream and/or ice will also be offered to ensure you are comfortable during treatment. Then, a fine needle will be used to inject the Botox or dermal filler into the appropriate areas. Treatment time will vary depending on the product choice and the size of the treatment area and may range from 15 minutes to one hour.
RECOVERY
Following your Botox and dermal filler treatments, there is no downtime, so you can return to your regular activities as soon as you wish. However, you may experience temporary swelling, redness, bruising, and tenderness at the injection site(s), which will resolve with time. For the best possible results, we recommend avoiding strenuous activities and exercise, as well as alcohol consumption for 12-24 hours after treatment.While filler results are often seen immediately after treatment, Botox results can take up to two weeks to become apparent. The results of fillers can last from six months to two years depending on the formula, while Botox results can last from 3-6 months.
